Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church is located in Atlantic, Iowa where it has stood since 1893. Originally constructed with a soaring clock tower that collapsed in the first half of the 20th century, the church contacted K/O Architects to help mitigate water infiltrating the tower and reconstruct deteriorated façade elements ravaged by time and Iowa weather.
Extensive new copper flashing, new copper cornices, masonry reconstruction and repointing constituted the majority of the work, which has resulted in the nearly 130–year–old building being able to withstand the fluctuations of Iowa weather and once again exhibiting a dignified exterior to the citizens of southwestern Iowa.
